Dinner Plain-High Country Comfort Dinner Plain offers the perfect chance to take some time out with as much or as little adventure as you like. Offering year round activities both inside or out, high energy or low key, you can really create a break that is an alpine holiday just for you!

As the only Freehold village which sits above the snowline in Australia, Dinner Plain has wonderful vibrancy during the winter months. The village has a beginner ski run with life, toboggan run, 35 km of cross country ski trails, ski lessons, a luxury spa retreat or a sled dog ride tours and of course, snow play right outside your chalet-bringing the magic and fun of life in the snow right to your door……snow angels, snowmen, snowballs, snowshoeing and most importantly an EASY and relaxed snow holiday!

Connecting with loved ones has never been so easy with something to offer all ages and inclinations. Dinner Plain is the perfect place to make special memories. With the mountains full of year round adventure: hiking trails, night time nature walks, mountain biking, picnic, guided tours, board games, children’s playground, bbq’s, 4wd touring, golf in the nearby towns (Bright ,Omeo Tambo), fishing, tennis, frisbee golf, ski and boarding along with horse riding when available.

Bus services are available from Dinner Plain to Mt Hotham from 7am to 7pm every 30 minutes during the winter peak season. Consult this year’s timetable for fares. The Alps Bus Link Services Omeo to Bright provides public transport between Omeo and Bright along the Great Alpine Road. Stops will be made along the route at Dinner Plain.

Please park in the car parking available at your accommodation. Fines will be issued for vehicles parked in no standing areas. Permits are required for overnight parking at Scrubbers end and are free of charge.

Dogs are welcomed to Dinner Plain, but please ensure your dog is on a lead at all times.

Permits must be obtained from your accommodation provider and displayed when parked at Scrubbers End.

Firewood and kindling can be purchased locally through Rob Sutherland 0407097994.

Public toilets are located at the DP Hut and Scrubbers End Car Park.

Winter: The Mt Hotham Medical Centre is open daily during the ski season, it is located in the Ford Car Park – 03 5759 3551.

Hoys Dinner Plain Ski shop is conveniently located in the Village centre

It’s a legal requirement to carry snow chains during the winter season while traveling the Great Alpine road between Harrietville and Omeo.  

Quality chains can be hired from Hoys in Harrietville & Hoys new Ski Shop in Omeo opposite Foodworks 

Hoys offer a FREE chain fitting & removal mobile service on the Harrietville side of the mountain when you hire Hoys chains

Not all vehicles can fit chains so please contact your provider prior to departing home.

Dinner Plain Supermarket on Big Muster Drive (operate during Easter and winter only) and The General Store Supermarket at Mt Hotham operates all year round.

Mount Beauty Vegetation delivers to Dinner Plain twice weekly all year and orders can be placed online at www.vegitation.com.au.

The nearest service/petrol stations are located at Omeo and Bright.

Please check that vehicles are not parked along roadways due to snow clearing operations. Overnight parking is available free of charge with a permit which can be organised through your accommodating provider. Local operators clear the roads regularly and for driveway clearing you can contact Dinner Plain Maintenance on 0407097994.

Collection days during peak periods: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please use the supplied bags for recycling (clear) and rubbish (red) Additional bags are available from your accommodation provider

Properties have an external garbage hutch for your waste; loose waste will not be collected and usually incurs an additional cost to be bagged correctly.

BBQ facilities are located at DP Hut and Scrubbers End. Other picnic sites include JB Hut, Champagne Point, or a short drive to Victoria Falls.
